Grab Your Camera, Take A Walk: Old Louisville

Okay, so if you aren't sold on taking a trip to Louisville yet I am pretty sure this post will tip the scales. Louisville has one of largest areas of Victorian era houses in the country, you can spend hours walking around the tree lined streets taking in the beauty of these amazing houses. A priority for me on our trip was to get out and see some of the historic homes in and around Louisville and I am so glad that we were able to take in Old Louisville. Though the Old Louisville visitor center was closed when we arrived they provide their walking tours on their website so we were able to just pull up the information on an iphone and get to exploring.

(page break because there are about a million pictures)

Visit: Louisville Slugger

You probably can't take a family vacation to Louisville without visiting the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum. This is a great activity for folks of all ages. We didn't have any little kids in our group, but there were others on our tour and they all seemed to be having a great time. Now I'm kinda a sucker for factory tours, I love seeing how things are made, but the Louisville Slugger people make the whole thing so interesting and entertaining that my sister, who doesn't care about baseball at all, said it was her favorite place we visited.

Day At The Races

Live: A Day At The Races

After our visit to the Horse Park, we headed to Keeneland Race Track also in Lexington. I think it is safe to say that Keeneland was the biggest surprise of our trip. It was an amazingly fun and a great way to spend a few hours.

The top picture is what we saw as soon as we entered through the ticket gate, no joke. It was exactly what you would imagine a Kentucky horse race track to be. We grabbed some lunch, watched a few races and someone (my sister in-law Kelsey) even won some money. Over all it was great fun and I recommend a trip to the track for anyone heading to Kentucky.

Craft Cabin!

Late Friday morning I jumped in the car with a few of my favorite girls to head out of town for the weekend to celebrate my dear friend Mel's 30th Birthday! We drove from our hometown in south eastern Michigan to the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline. Where we met up with one more gal to craft the weekend away.

Our weekend was filled with chatting and laughing, car dancing and beach walking, blanket stitches and yarn hooking, snacking and game playing.

It is a little late in the year to have a full enjoyment of the lake, but I feel like anytime you can fall asleep to the sound of waves hitting the sand and wake up to pink sun shining on blue water it is worth it!
Saturday morning I took a watch on the beach with my little cousin Peter (seen in a much smaller form here) we both felt like it was a little early, but very pretty (please note that this picture was taken just after he spit up inside - yeah inside - my shirt)!
I'm sure that there will be a little more about the trip showing up this week, so stay tuned for that!

Songare un piccolo sogno di:

It seem that I have been dreaming of Italy these days, I go through these spells every six months or so, times when I can't get enough of things that remind me of a country that stole my heart. I have been reading Under the Tuscan Sun, watched both Enchanted April (not great) and the Masterpiece Theater A Room With A View (wonderful) and been plotting about where I would go if I was visiting all the lovely cities there. Is there a place that you find you dream of over and over?

The thing is . . .

This week my mind and my time have looked a little bit like this picture: crowded and on the brink of being out of control so I didn't get around to writing any posts the first half of the week. I am however totally going to make up for it next week, when all the posts will be brought to you by the number 28!

Wonderlust

If I woke up tomorrow morning and someone offered me a trip anyplace I wanted, I would be hopping a plane to Greece. I have wanted to visit forever. Sigh one day. So where would you go if I told you I'd send you anyplace you wanted to go?
